Tees Newport Bridge
Tees Newport Bridge
Tees Newport Bridge is a vertical lift bridge built by Dorman Long, the pre-nationalisation steel company synonymous with Teesside. The lift function is no longer operational, the bridge being permanently fixed in the down position. Leading away from the bottom right of the image are concrete cable troughs lying on ballast, showing that the footpath here runs along the edge of former railway land, Tees Yard and prior to that Newport Yard and engine shed formerly occupying this site.
