Traffic control during repairs and refurbishment of Westgate, Warwick
The former western gate of the town is a vaulted tunnel beneath St James's Chapel. In the late 19th century the trams could not get through it so the High Street was diverted around its south side. Narrow, on a bend and a sharp slope with rock on one side and a high stone wall on the other – it's always a tense moment for a driver entering or leaving the town centre.
