taken 5 years ago, near to Maes-Glas, Newport/Casnewydd, Wales

Floodlights on Newport Transporter Bridge
Floodlights on Newport Transporter Bridge
With the River Usk near to high tide.
For just a few days, the bridge is being used to stage Tin Shed Theatre's production of Herman Melville's novel Moby Dick.
The audience and actors occupy the gondola which usually carries cars and passengers across the river.
Here, at the start of the production, the gondola is parked at the left of the bridge before moving to the centre of the river Link .

For the duration of this event, additional lighting has been added to the usual floodlighting of the bridge.

For a daytime view of the bridge and some information see Link .
