Tinker's Well
A well on the shore at Gourock. An unusually specific explanation for its name can be found on page 55 of David Macrae's "Notes about Gourock, Chiefly Historical" (1880): "This well derived its name from a band of gipsies or tinkers who encamped at this spot in 1826. The water is pure and delicious, and has long been in high repute in Gourock". The Gourock Times (12th of June 1931) has an article on the well, with a picture.
