How Wood: Railway line to St Albans Abbey
Viewed from the Hyde Lane pedestrian crossing of the railway, this is the St Albans Abbey branch line, looking in the direction of St Albans. Many years ago this was the site of a railway junction with a short-lived freight line to the former Napsbury station on the Midland Railway about two kilometres to the east. The railway was however closed before the First World War.
