The Parish Church of St.Michael, St.Albans
Set at the far end of St.Michaels Street, this church is said to pre-date the Norman Conquest in about 948. It contains the grave and monument to Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626), Lord Verulam, and Viscount St.Albans from the nearby Gorhambury Estate. He was Lord Chancellor of England and famous as a author,lawyer, philopsher, statesman, and scientist.
