Unusual viewpoint
Alongside a short stretch of the road leading to the visitor centre at Sherwood Pines Forest Park there are several poles with holes drilled through them, one near the top and another a few feet up from the ground. Their purpose is not obvious, but they provide an interesting view of the trees! See SK6164 : Sherwood Pines Forest Park for a view of some of the poles in their habitat.
