When I studied here in the late '70's I thought this was the most boring and ugly building. I'm beginning to change my mind – looking at this photo, it's like a painting by Mondrian.
I don't know whether this is still the case, but then the three branches of chemistry where split across the three floors: the ground floor was Physical Chemistry ('cos they had the heavy equipment) the top floor was Organic Chemistry ('cos they made all the smells) and Inorganic was the jam in the middle – told by an Inorganic professor!
