Ouse Washes
Ouse Washes
With partial flooding in a dry winter, excellent conditions for the tens of thousands of ducks, geese, swans and wading birds that spend the winter here. Water is pumped into the Ouse Washes to keep the surrounding farmland drained. The grassland here has been shaped to maximise the length of wet edge, focused on the bird hide on the bank.
