NT2573 : Merchant Street and Candlemaker Row

taken 16 years ago, near to Edinburgh, Scotland

Merchant Street and Candlemaker Row
Merchant Street and Candlemaker Row
George IV bridge on the upper level.

At the end of Merchant Street is the erm, naughty boy's entrance to the Law Courts.

Just before that on the left is "Berties", a popular late night club.
Don't go past this humorous but informative description: LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
which says: "Conjuring up thoughts of those 'orrible little sticks of liquorice that help keep Colgate in business, Berties is clubbing in an American house party style. Those interested in today's compensation culture may be interested in the fully varnished dance–floor and the bathrooms, which are now legendary in their hideousness. Unless you're armed with a colostomy bag or can pee into another man's pint unnoticed, the vodka–stained varnish, like the Bon Jovi album, is 'Slippery When Wet'. To avoid losing valuable tooth enamel, you should think about wearing sandals, clogs or even flip flops – if you can find any that match your outfit."
