NY3955 : Fratry, Carlisle cathedral

taken 6 years ago, near to Carlisle, Cumbria, England

Fratry, Carlisle cathedral
Fratry, Carlisle cathedral
The fratry was originally built in the 12th century, serving the friars of the cathedral priory as their refectory (dining hall). It is currently being redeveloped as a learning and community centre. There are some arches Link attached to the front of the building, suggesting that there was an annex at one time.
