Conway Hall
This is the Theobald's Road entrance to Conway Hall and the South Place Ethical Society, the oldest freethought community in the world. It was founded in 1793 as a dissenting congregation and for more than two centuries has been a focus for serious discussion of basic ethical principles. Conway Hall was opened in 1929 and named after Moncure Conway, an C19 American abolitionist and freethinker who lived much of his life in London where he consorted with major literary and intellectual figures of the time.
