This is a way-marked walking route on the Philiphaugh Estate on the outskirts of Selkirk called the Salmon Leap Walk. The people ahead are looking out over the cauld, see NT4427 : The cauld on the Ettrick Water, for the chance of seeing salmon leaping out of the Ettrick Water.
