SK4243 : Sheep near Mapperley Park

Sheep near Mapperley Park
Sheep near Mapperley Park
At one time there were numerous mines in this area on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Coalfield but now the only black faces to be seen are on the sheep. Underground though it is still honeycombed with mine shafts and tunnels. The trees in the mid distance are known as Abbot's Rough and beyond them is Manchester Wood but that is in square SK4144.
