The Bell Lane bridleway through Manchester Wood leads to Shipley Hall Country Park from Smalley. Although there had not been much overnight rain, it was enough to flood this part of the bridleway. The wood occupies only a fraction of the square which is mainly farmland but it must be a good spot for the shooting fraternity as the sound of guns was echoing around the trees as I walked along the path.
