Gardens of Longstock House
Longstock House and its estate was bought in 1946 by a retailer called John Lewis. He lived there for a few years before converting it to a club for use by executives of his company. It is still owned and used by the John Lewis company. Part of the estate includes the famous Water Gardens, which were developed as a feature in the 1920s but vastly improved and enlarged by John Lewis after he bought it. It is now open to the public on two Sundays each month.
