Montgomery Canal Nature Reserve
During the time that the Montgomery Canal was derelict a unique flora and fauna developed in what was to become a wildlife haven. With the re-development of a working canal much of this could be lost, but attempts are being made to have little "off canal" reserves to provide opportunity for the maintenance of an environment similar to the derelict canal. Water is taken into the reserve above the top lock at Aston and discharges below it. This is one of the pools that are developing well.
