Oxford Canal - Moon from Napton Adkins Lock
Oxford Canal - Moon from Napton Adkins Lock
Taken from Napton Adkins Locks (#14) on the Oxford Canal South of Napton-on-the-Hill Warwickshire. View across “Old Engine House Arm” partly in water, where the moored boats can be seen. The Engine House itself at the end of the arm (and out of sight, at SP465591) contained a Newcomen-design engine for a back pumping scheme, taking water back up the Napton Flight to the summit. Working from 1792, the building is apparently noted as “pulled down” on an Oxford Canal Survey of 1840.
