Foxfield Railway - assaulting the bank
Two locomotives (one leading and one banking) are hustling 9 mineral wagons and a brake van up the 1 in 19 out of the colliery site.
Both engines saw industrial work for the National Coal Board and this makes for a realistic scene. The lead engine is Whiston. Whiston was built in 1950 by the Hunslet Engine Company of Leeds as works No. 3694. It is an 0-6-0ST 'Austerity' design. It worked in the Lancashire coalfield. It is based at Foxfield and just returned from a period on loan to the Churnet Valley Railway.
At the back is Carron No. 14. This is Andrew Barclay No. 1245 0-6-0. This was visiting for the gala weekend. This was built in 1911 and used by the Carron Company and later the NCB. It is normally based at the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway in the Lake District.
