SE3170 : Old bridge, new function

taken 11 years ago, near to Ripon, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Old bridge, new function
Old bridge, new function
The former railway bridge, presumably dating from 1848 when the Harrogate to Ripon line was opened, now carries the A61 Ripon by pass over the River Skell. The bridge appears little altered, apart from some widening by a metre or so on each side to carry the pavement above.
