The Salty - River Teign
The Salty - River Teign
The village of Shaldon is just below the photographer and Teignmouth is the town on the otherside of the river. Teignmouth New and Old Quays can be seen with two cargo vessels moored along the New Quay ready to be loaded possibly with Ball Clay from the nearby quarries.

The sandy patch in the middle of the river is called The Salty and is shown here at low water (springs) which means the tide is exceptionally low. The Salty is dotted with small pools of water trapped as the tide went out.

Many boats can be seen beached on The Salty whilst those that need to stay afloat can be seen moored in the deeper water around the edge of The Salty.
