The Firmounth Road was one of the drove roads linking Glen Esk in Angus with Deeside in Aberdeenshire. Dating from around the 13th century it was a busy trade route in its day. Every autumn the drove roads would be used to take cattle from their breeding grounds in the Highlands to markets in the Lowlands.
