River Lark and junction with the Cut Off Channel
River Lark and junction with the Cut Off Channel
Most of the water visible in this photo is the start of the Cut Off Channel, which links the River Lark and the Relief Channel at Denver Sluice. This channel is effectively a deep drainage ditch, into which excess water is allowed to flow and be stored during peak periods. See TF5901 : Cut-off Channel entering Relief Channel. for the northern end of the Cut-Off Channel.
