St Mary's, Fairford - Beneath the Tower
St Mary's, Fairford - Beneath the Tower
The church was rebuilt by John Tame, local wool merchant, in 1490s. He retained the earlier tower in his new Perpendicular Gothic masterpiece. Taken looking upwards, past the bell-ropes, into the stone vaulting of the tower. The bells can be lowered and raised through the round wooden trapdoor.
