TM4765 : The shady side of Minsmere Chapel

The shady side of Minsmere Chapel
The shady side of Minsmere Chapel
Why shady? Hidden within the chapel is a WWII pillbox (gun emplacement) facing towards the beach, possible site of Nazi landings. Other defences were installed in the area, dragon's teeth (long since corroded away), concrete blocks (still very much in evidence) and a tank trap (extra-wide ditch). The chapel itself is late C11 and currently under restoration. Within living memory, this end had a full gable, now fallen into the pile of stones visible in the foreground.
