The "five cairns" on the north side of Morrone
These "five cairns" are a prominent landmark on the path up the north side of Morrone from Braemar. They are positioned at the top of a steeper part of the north side of the hill and can be seen against the skyline from the valley below. The piles of rock were presumably intended for improvements to the path which is now much eroded in places. However the project appears to have been deferred or forgotten.
