TQ0309 : New Cut, River Arun

taken 16 years ago, near to South Stoke, West Sussex, England

New Cut, River Arun
New Cut, River Arun
The old course of the river heads out of picture to the left whilst the new cut goes straight ahead. Constructed in the 1860s by the company who built the Arun Valley railway line because it was cheaper than building the required two swing bridges over the old route.
