View west along Gad Cliff
This upper portion of Gad Cliff is composed of Portland Stone. The South West Coast Path follows the cliff-top, a sensible distance from the precipice with numerous warning signs. The strata dip landwards, down to Tyneham Gwyle. The downland slope is grazed by cattle, the fencing near the top stops them from straying off the cliff. The whole of this area is part of the MOD's Lulworth Ranges, and is only open to the public on particular days each year.
