No 2 Kiln (right) was installed in 1909. No 3 Kiln (left)was installed 1928. Both were shut down in 1976. They made around 6.5 tonnes per hour of Portland cement clinker each, by the "wet" process. Although diminutive by modern standards, No 2 kiln at the time of its installation was the largest cement kiln in Britain. Both kilns were 150' long and 7'6" in diameter.
