Pasture created by enclosure
Pasture created by enclosure
This sheep pasture is marked on the OS map as a former enclosure. It was probably created in the 15th or 16th century, either when an area of common land was taken into private ownership, or when farmland previously shared by several farmers on a stripfield basis was enclosed by one individual farmer, usually for sheep. It lies beside the A483 Dolfor Road south-west of Newtown.
