Indian Bean Tree
The tree in St James' Square is a Catalpa or Indian Bean Tree. It is one of the oldest and biggest examples of this tree in the UK, well into its maturity. Much tree surgery and props have been used to keep it struggling on. The tree origniates from SE America. The War Memorial is alongside.
