View north along the River Ant
... through Spa Common; the view is taken from Mill Road bridge > TG2930 : Bridge across the River Ant. The River Ant forms the North Walsham & Dilham Canal; it was canalised and widened to accommodate Norfolk wherries that transported offal to two bone mills. Corn was taken to Bacton Wood mill > TG2930 : The former Bacton Wood Watermill with return loads of flour. The canal ran from Smallburgh to Antingham and contained 6 locks. LinkExternal link
