SJ1640 : Ancient straining post

taken 10 years ago, 3 km from Glyndyfrdwy, Denbighshire/Sir Ddinbych, Great Britain

Ancient straining post
Ancient straining post
Probably this strainer was on the original fence put up here in the Edwardian period when these grouse moors where first tamed. The ratchet tighteners are past their best but they have still been used to attach relatively new wire. There is another fence post which is in very good condition in another photo on the mountain.
