Plumpton, one of Northamptonshire's lost villages
Today Plumpton just consists of a Church, old Vicarage, Manor and some cottages. But aerial photographs show that this was once a large community with a population possibly of a few hundred. But like many medieval villages it has now almost disappeared, perhaps as a result of the plague or later when the lords of the manor evicted villagers during the 16th century in order to keep flocks of sheep on their pasture.
