Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is probably one of the most distinctive bridges in the world, it has spanned the River Thames since 1894 when it was the last bridge over the Thames built in the Victorian era. The bridge was designed by Horace Jones and built by Sir Charles Barry, who also built the houses of Parliament. It is 244m (800ft) in length with a central span of 61m (200ft). The towers are 65m (213ft) high. (Information from Christopher Winn's excellent book, 'I Never Knew That About the River Thames'.)
