Castle Hill, Swine (2)
Only the earthworks remain of Swine Castle. It was built by Sir John Saher in the late 12thC. No stonework remains (stolen long ago) but brick foundations have been revealed. The earthworks represent a much mutilated oval platform, 100m long x 70m wide surrounded by a ditch with a counterscarp bank on the north & east sides.
