SE1761 : Mud, mud, glorious mud

taken 10 years ago, near to Dacre, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Mud, mud, glorious mud
Mud, mud, glorious mud
Nothing quite like it for messing up the trousers! The 4 fields crossed by the footpath between Heyshaw and Lanes Foot are purgatory, with stiles and gateways surrounded by a liquid ooze that threatens to swamp the boots. There are traces of an ancient paved way in places, which seems to prove that this has always been a soggy patch.
