SK6843 : Under Gunthorpe bridge

taken 10 years ago, near to Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire, Great Britain

Under Gunthorpe bridge
Under Gunthorpe bridge
Built in 1927, this is a relatively early example of a reinforced concrete bridge. The arch ribs can be well seen in this view, but note that the spandrels of the outer ribs are solid, so that the bridge looks more like a traditional stone bridge.
