Crosby Beach - sculpture
Crosby Beach - sculpture
Close-up of one of Antony Gormley's figures for "Another Place", installed in 2005 on Crosby Beach, Merseyside. Someone has "signed" the figure in the sand.

In October 2006 the local council planning committee voted for their removal on health and safety grounds (danger to boats from the submerged figures and people being stranded when caught by incoming tides when looking at the figures). In March 2007, after much public protest, the council gave consent for their permanent installation.
