The old mussel shed, Ythan Estuary
The old mussel shed, Ythan Estuary
This ruined building was once a shelter for the men who collected large quantities of mussels from the Ythan Estuary for use as bait by long line fishermen. They collected the mussels from a small boat, by hand, using long rakes. This all stopped in the mid 1960s.
