SN5850 : Yr Eryr Gwyn

taken 17 years ago, near to Glan-Denys, Ceredigion/Sir Ceredigion, Wales

Yr Eryr Gwyn
Yr Eryr Gwyn
Topped with Yr eryr gwyn, a symbol of the campaign for Welsh independence, this roadside memorial, standing on the boundary of SN5850 : Glandenys, the birthplace of William Julian Cayo-Evans, founder of the Byddin Rhyddid Cymru (Free Wales Army), commemorates Alwyn Jones and George Taylor, two members of the army killed by the premature detonation of their bomb at Abergele in 1969.

It is still tended by those loyal to the cause, who since this picture was taken have added a 'cairn' of white quartz at the foot of the eagle and a photograph of Cayo-Evans on the tree.
