Railway Station, Aberdeen
To the left is a Mark II Driving Brake Second Open (DBSO) vehicle and it is used in conjunction with a class 47 and its train to run push-pull services. The ability to drive the train from the rear coach alleviates the need for a loco to run around its train, or for a second locomotive to be on standby at the terminus for the return journey. The DBSO was numbered 9605 and the locomotive up front was 47716. To the right is snowplough fitted Class 37405. 309 of these locomotives were built between 1960 and 1965 and were numbered 37001 - 37308. There were a few sub-classes after modifications.
