TQ2995 : Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis)

taken 10 years ago, near to Southgate, Enfield, Great Britain

Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis)
Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis)
An exotic looking bird. This time a native bird, which comes down to feed from ants' nests in the grass or in cracks in the path. I believe they nest in a large oak tree not far away. This bird has red cheeks which indicates it is a male bird.
