NT2214 : The Cossarshill Burn

taken 10 years ago, 3 km from Birkhill, Dumfries And Galloway, Great Britain

The Cossarshill Burn
The Cossarshill Burn
The burn, viewed from the northeast bank, is in shadow. The small tree in the foreground contains a nest, probably built by a carrion crow last year. These small trees in hill country by burns and sikes are usually occupied by crows in the breeding season and can be quite low to the ground. The lowest I have discovered was only one metre from the ground.
