TQ2995 : Robin (Erithacus rubecula) Juvenile

taken 11 years ago, near to Southgate, Enfield, Great Britain

Robin (Erithacus rubecula) Juvenile
Robin (Erithacus rubecula) Juvenile
This young Robin sitting on a post illustrates the rounded shape of the bird and its large eye and pointed insect-eating beak, though they are not averse to sampling sunflower hearts and other seeds from the bird feeder. The brown speckled plumage, reminiscent of a young blackbird, but much smaller, is good camouflage.
