WW II painted sign
WW II painted sign
In Chester during the second World War, Hydrants for fire fighting were highlighted by painting a large H in yellow paint, surrounded by a square. There are two others that I know of, Edgar's Field entrance, Handbridge and in Abbey Square, behind the Cathedral.
