2006 : Silver-washed Fritillary on Buddleia
2006 : Silver-washed Fritillary on Buddleia
Someone who was present at the time said it was a Humming Bird Hawk Moth, it was feeding on the wing like a humming bird. This was the only time it alighted to feed, unfortunately it was the only image out of many which was fit for reproduction.

Have since been advised by Mike Pennington this is a Silver-washed Fritillary of the var. valesina. However, I have a 6 second video of this creature, taken at the time, feeding on the wing. Now available at LinkExternal link
