This is Dorchester's Corn Exchange and in the novel of that name Bathsheba Everdene used to do her trading with the other local farmers here. Gabriel Oak dressed up as a shepherd and stood outside at the annual February statute hiring fair to get a job after he lost everything when his sheep jumped off a cliff.
