SK4333 : Modern goes over old that cuts ancient

near to Draycott, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Modern goes over old that cuts ancient
Modern goes over old that cuts ancient
This modern concrete road bridge carries the A6005 over the former Derby canal, the bed of which is visible East of here but is filled in to the West as it crosses Draycott Fields. The ancient part of the title comes from the fact that the A6005 follows the path of a Roman Road at this point, the canal almost certainly intersecting that road when it was built. The Derby canal has a society that is currently trying to restore the canal, found at LinkExternal link
