SN1645 : Kitchen - St Dogmael's abbey

taken 11 years ago, near to St Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire/Sir Benfro, Great Britain

Kitchen - St Dogmael's abbey
Kitchen - St Dogmael's abbey
This area in the SW corner of the complex must have been the kitchen of the abbey. The remains of the walls suggest that there were two stone ovens next to each other (one pictured here). These would have been surrounded by other rooms, presumably to utilise the heat generated for heating as well as cooking. In the foreground, the official tour guide (SN1645 : St Dogmael's tour guide).
